Look of the Month: The Floral Maxi
Updated: Jun 7, 2020
As the warmer temperature and full blooms indicate, spring has sprung. Among the many things I love about this season are the variety of floral maxi dresses in nearly every department store and boutique.
If you take a glimpse inside my closet, you can quickly see that the floral maxi dress is one of my favorite pieces. It's always elegant and let's be honest, a maxi dress couldn't be any easier. Comfortable fashion that makes me look completely put together with just one piece of clothing? Yes, please.
From bright eye-catching prints to more subtle hues, you can find a maxi dress to fit nearly every occasion. In today's outfit of the month, I'm sharing a more dressy take on the maxi.
One of my favorite features of this particular look is the double slit-- it creates so much movement in the dress. And who doesn't love a dress that flows as they enter a room?
Pair a flowing dress with height-boosting heels or (if you’re tall enough to pull off flats) sandals.
Floral prints are a perfect way to ring in spring. Although floral never goes out of style, it's certainly having a moment this season-- you can find it on skirts, purses and even blazers. But nothing speaks spring quite like a floral print maxi dress, making it a must-have in your wardrobe. The large-scale florals in this dress make a statement without being too busy. The key is finding the right floral pattern that suits your style and the occasion.
I paired this maxi with a Calvin Klein gold clutch, and Carlos By Carlos Santana camel colored heels. I incorporated tones of metallic and camel to add interest to the look. Since the dress makes such a statement on its own, I opted for delicate jewelry with gold Tori Burch earrings, an Alex and Ani meteor beaded bangle, and a Michael Kors tortoise buckle bracelet. My accessories were completed with my diamond cross ring which I wear nearly every day. It matches with everything and most importantly, is a reminder of my faith on a daily basis.
When to Wear
A lot of maxi dresses can be dressed up or down, but you'll want to save this one for a special occasion. The style and silk-like texture of this particular dress make it more formal. This dress is perfect for a night out to dinner, an outdoor wedding, cruise or even a dressy brunch.
I'd love to hear how you're planning to wear the floral print this season. Share your tips in the comment section below. If you're interested in this maxi dress, I found it in one of my favorite Tampa boutiques, Don Me Now. Danielle Evans, who owns the boutique, does a wonderful job of selecting fashion-forward high-quality items at an affordable price. I know I can always find a unique piece in her store that fits my personal style, and real-girl budget. You'll be pleased to find this dress is under $100, which is an absolute steal.
Happy spring my friends! Thanks for reading, and have a beautiful day.
