5 Go-To Beauty Products

Updated: Jun 7, 2020

From new lip colors to the latest mask, there are countless beauty products I've tried over the years. As a reporter, I'm often on-the-go, and need products that will refresh and brighten my face in an instant.

Today, I'm rounding up five products that are staples in my beauty and skincare regimen.

1. Perricone MD Nourishing Moisturizer, $80

Believe me when I tell you that this product is worth the splurge. I've tried a plethora of moisturizers and this one remains my favorite. It leaves my skin feeling soft, and smooth which creates the perfect base for makeup application or a natural look.

When it comes to testing skincare products, I'll regularly use the product and then stop to see if I notice a difference in my skin. This moisturizer passed the test with flying colors. If I go a few days without using it, I instantly see and feel the difference in my skin's texture, tone and dryness.

I'm a big fan of Perricone MD's line and love knowing that his products are free of harmful ingredients including parabens, phthalates, sulfates, mineral oil, petroleum and synthetic dyes. Additionally, this moisturizer is hypoallergenic and fragrance-free to help soothe sensitive, or irritated skin. I use this moisturizer in the morning, and after I wash my face every night. I seriously can't go without it!

Bottom Line: Healthy, beautiful skin starts with a good moisturizer. Perricone has created a supremely hydrating moisturizer with anti-aging benefits that leaves your skin feeling smooth all day.

2. Regenica Revitalizing Eye Crème, $54

If you're like myself and have struggled to find an eye cream that brightens the under-eye area, then you will have a deep appreciation for Regenica's revitalizing eye cream. It's the real deal.

After moisturizing my face, I apply this eye cream underneath my eyes and along my brow bone in the morning and evening with my Clarisonic Opal.

Regenica created this cream by combining its MRCx™ next generation growth factor technology with advanced peptides, and antioxidants. After a couple of weeks, I saw a dramatic difference in my under eye circles, which naturally tend to be darker. When I'm traveling a lot and low on sleep, I've noticed this cream also helps to reduce puffiness.

Bottom Line: One of the biggest signs of fatigue (and dare I say, aging) is underneath your eyes. This eye cream is the best one I've found to lighten and brighten the eyes. It's almost as good as sleep in a bottle. Almost.

3. Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder, $26

Finding the right powder for the eye area is tricky, and can often look cakey. I use Laura Mercier's Secret Brightening Powder to set my under eye concealer for a naturally finished look. It is a transparent white powder that instantly adds a lightening boost, and works with any skin tone. It brightens dark circles, and smooths the overall under eye appearance. The powder is formulated with light-reflecting micronized pigments and creates an air-brushed effect.

I recommend applying with a Laura Mercier camouflage powder brush ($28).

Bottom Line: This powder sets under eye concealer beautifully, while providing sheer coverage that doesn't settle into fine lines.

4. Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara, $23

Without fail, every time I wear this mascara someone asks me if my lashes are real. Which, in fact they are, but I always credit this mascara for the compliment.

Too Faced's Better Than Sex mascara features a collagen-fueled formula to help create eyelash fullness. It lengthens and thickens my lashes without leaving them clumpy. Plus, it lasts all day and is smudge-free, which is a huge selling point for me.

I recommend applying three or four coats to see the full benefits of what this mascara can do.

Bottom Line: This mascara will give your lashes a serious boost, leading many to wonder, "are they real?"

5. Florapy Facial Mask, $8 each or $56 for an 8-pack

I may or may not have a slight obsession with facial masks. Okay, fine-- big obsession. I recently discovered Florapy facial sheet masks while perusing Blue Mercury in Hyde Park Village with my mom. What a find! We each bought an eight-pack which features all of the scents and instantly fell in love. We both noticed a difference in our skin's texture and tone after using them.

I now use these masks three times a week.

Here's a quick look at all of the Florapy scents:

Jasmine Peppermint (Detox Mask)

Chamomile Patchouli (Stress Relief Mask)

Arnica Rose (Strength + Energy Mask)

Calendula Sage (Anti-Aging Mask)

Sunflower Lemon (Even Skin Tone Mask)

Blackberry Primrose (Deep Hydration Mask)

Dandelion Lemongrass (Clear Complexion Mask)

Yarrow Lavender (Sweet Dreams Mask)

It's hard to choose a favorite because they are all wonderful, but I really love applying the Sweet Dreams mask before bedtime. The lavender aromatherapy helps me to relax after a long day, calms the nerves and promotes sleep. The Dandelion Lemongrass has also been a life-saver. It hydrates my skin, while helping to even skin tone and clear any blemishes.

Bottom Line: Skincare doesn't get much easier than this. Apply the mask, and relax for 15-20 minutes. The floral scents are so calming, and the mask always leaves my skin feeling refreshed.
