Statement sleeves are certainly making a statement this spring and summer. From bell sleeve blouses to ruffled sleeves, and more, there are a variety of ways to wear the trend.
Today's post was inspired by this beautiful bell-sleeved blouse that I found for under $30. This shape is feminine and romantic, yet can also balance out a broad upper body and slim the arms.
When wearing a bell-sleeved blouse, opt for narrow silhouettes such as a pencil skirt or skinny jeans to balance out the look.
When to Wear
This look is perfect for a brunch date or girls' night out. It can be dressed up with a slim-fitting skirt and strappy heels or worn to the office with a pencil skirt and pair of pumps.
I paired the top with a pair of dark denim skinny jeans for a smart casual look. These ones are by James Jeans in the Twiggy Dancer style. I love that they hold me in, yet are still stretchy and comfortable. Basically, I could live in these jeans and some weeks, nearly do.
Blush graced the runways, and has now made its way into nearly every fashion boutique.
I love that this blouse comes in Pale Dogwood, which is a Pantone color of the spring. It goes beautifully with other neutrals and can be contrasted with dark denim or black.
The pale pink color has been dubbed "millenial pink" for its popularity within the age group. However, it is a gorgeous color on women of all ages and skin tones. The universally flattering color can be worn head to toe for a monochromatic look or incorporated in your look with accessories, patterns or separates.
I'm loving all of the blush pink purses and clutches we're seeing this spring. They're neutral enough to match with nearly every outfit, yet add a subtle pop of color. This Rebecca Minkoff Leo clutch is on my summer wish list, and is currently on sale for just $75.
Although I contrasted the blush blouse with dark denim, I wanted to keep the rest of the look light and airy. For a springtime feel, I accessorized with neutral colors.
The white purse pictured above is made by Olivia & Joy. I love that it features a gold double-zipper on the front of the purse. It adds a classy touch to just about any outfit. A white purse is a must-have in your summer wardrobe. If you want something smaller, the sailboat clutch by Mudpie is one of my favorite pieces for summer. It's the perfect size for toting all of my essentials, and you know that I can't get enough of a sailing motif.
